If you are heading away for a week or four, you will need to pack a wide variety of items to prepare for the upcoming trip. Now, we all know to pack things like underwear, shorts and socks, so I will skip all of those common sense articles and go on to something a bit more unusual. Regardless of your destination, you should pack an outdoors jacket, which is also waterproof, windproof and breathable, in your suitcase. The weather can turn bad anywhere that you are and a jacket like this will help you if you are stuck in a sudden rainstorm or if the wind picks up unexpectedly.

These jackets come in more colours than can be printed out with a good quality printer cartridge on your computer which is a good thing since you may want to make some hard copies of those digital holiday photographs once you get home. So, as well as remembering to pack any waterproof jackets and your digital camera, it is a good idea to prepare your printer for when you return home. There is no excuse for being unable to print out your holiday snaps of you and your family in your brand new hiking jackets just because your toner has run out of ink. There are many stores out there selling generic brand names of toners that will be of good quality. The rain may run off of your jacket, but at least the ink from your new generic toner will not smudge.
